Rob and his team will give you a unique view behind their workbenches. Watch how a ring is joined and precious gemstones are set.
Working as a manufacturing jeweller for the past 45 years, Rob has created with his studio a great alternative to the usual jewellery place.
In his studio you will find a combination of skills including the old traditional way of one of the oldest trades with modern technology.
Melted gold and hand selected gemstones are used to create one-off engagement and wedding rings. Tools have not changed creating personal jewellery the traditional way. Flames and hammer shape the precious metals and files give them the finishing touch.
Additionally his team is now also using 3D designs using the latest technology for their contemporary jewellery collections.
Ringcraft Moana collections are on display 7 days a week in their spacious studio on Surrey Hill Road.
Visitors who feel creative themselves get also the opportunity to design their own Mt Taranaki titanium pendant. In a group up to 6 people at a time you will get an inside of the basic skills of a goldsmith. Engrave your own interpretation of our mountain into two layers titanium. Through a heating process you will then add a permanent colour using a jewellers torch. The finishing product will be set in a sterling silver frame style pendant. Classes take 1hr in total and are suitable for adults.

During our Oakura Arts Trail Rob will demonstrate how broken customer rings are rejoined and gemstones are set. Roll out some metal on our ancient rolling mill or explore our bordering flax walk.
Our studio can fit a maximum of 50 people at a time.
